Die Erbe (The Invisible Inheritance)

Die Erbe (The Invisible Inheritance) revolves around the reunion of three sisters who are forced to manage their mother’s funeral. This extreme situation makes them revisit everything that remained unresolved between them and confront what they have carried since childhood: an invisible inheritance made of family roles, entrenched affections and learned ways of relating to one another. The piece moves between black comedy, autofiction and contemporary dramaturgy, exposing with rawness and humour the complexity of the bond between sisters and the persistence of what is transmitted without being named.

For Die Erbe, I developed a musical proposal that combined the composition of original music with the selection and articulation of pre-existing materials according to the different dramatic situations of the piece. At the core of this work was a main theme with a melancholic and contemporary character, close to an electronic aesthetic, conceived as a resonance of the protagonists’ youth and, at the same time, of the nostalgia and “invisible inheritance” that runs through their relationships. Around this sonic axis, the music also included original fragments composed for moments of particular emotional intensity, as well as a process of curating and adapting external pieces integrated into the scenic journey.
