Lo fragmentado: categoría estética acerca de lo posdigital en el ámbito de la música académica contemporánea (The Fragmented: An Aesthetic Category on the Post-Digital in Contemporary Academic Music)

This research addresses post-digitality in art within the field of contemporary academic music from an aesthetic perspective. Firstly, it delimits the musical framework of the study, develops a notion of the post-digital through different authors, and situates the research within the discipline of aesthetics. It then proposes the fragmented as an aesthetic category, drawing on previous conceptualisations and on the analysis of a selection of works by creators such as Trond Reinholdtsen, Alberto Bernal and Óscar Escudero, among others.

The thesis argues that what distinguishes post-digital music and art from the merely digital is not only the use of technology, but a critical attitude towards it. From this perspective, post-digital works are articulated around tensions such as analogue/digital, physical/virtual or material/immaterial. The category of the fragmented is therefore proposed as a possible contribution to the development of a post-digital aesthetics.
